Please Sir can I have some more

Hat Tip to the Guardian
There's a good story about the 32 MPs who claimed the maximum amount for food - £400 per month. They were allowed to claim this under the second home allowance, even though there is no logical reason why staying in a second home requires anyone to eat more than they would if they were living at home. In the paper (but not on the web) it appears under the headline:

Who at all the pies? They did. Who paid for them? You did.

Here's the list of the 32 MP who billed the taxpayer £4,800 for food in 2007/08:
I have only included the Welsh ones - full list is on line

Dai Havard Lab
Kim Howells Lab
Martyn Jones Lab

I guess Dai Havard will deny this in the Merthyr Express as he denied voting against the Gurkhas the other week, This despite the record showing him as one of the MPs who voted with Brown. I wonder what he will say this time.

im disgusting that Dai Havard can justify this sort of expense when he represents one of the most deprived constituencies in the UK and worse still the people of Merthyr continue to vote for this man in General Elections.

Indeed VM let hear his excuses.

Though my MP Chris Bryant didn't claim the £400 every month but he did do it regularly. He hasn't got a family to feed and since his 2nd home is in Porth in the Rhondda Valley how on earth did he manage to spend £400 these months, especially since the only supermarkets near him are a Morrisons and a Lidls store. Puzzling. If he keeps eating like that he'll end up like Cyril Smith!

Dai Soldier, what has he ever done for for Merthyr & Rhymney, from the look of this he's happy to spend our bloody tax money on fancy meals in restaurant when people are being made homeless and losing jobs, how lucky Mr Havard is to be leading such a charmed life or should that be taking the piss.

Why do we have to pay for Dai Haverd membership to the bevan foundation FFS!

My understanding of the legitimate use of the is this: Out of pockets expenses you would not otherwise have incurred; needed to enable you to fulfil your role as an MP.

Would Dai Havard and the others like us to believe that if they weren't MP's then they wouldn't eat? Rubbish.

Claiming for food is absurd - everyone needs to eat, MP's included. But everyone else pays for what they consume out of their own pockets.

In future, make a packed lunch or dip your hand in your pocket. Simple.

why do we have to pay for any of this for him.He earns enough,I am sure the Bevan Foundation would be mortified that he claims it.
Amy the man is useless, its time he was de-selected,but Merthyr Labour wont do that.
I hope we get some strong opposition to him at the next election,

It says a lot about the Bevan Foundation that they should accept trough snouters such as he for membership.
