I am constantly amazed that at First Ministers Questions the Cabinet aren't all there supporting Rhodri, most conspicuous by his absence is IWJ, or Sir Percy B as I am now thinking of calling him.
I think the non appearance is an insult to the Assembly, surely they cannot all be elsewhere every week.
When I watch it on TV it just looks so pathetic, may be the whips need to be a bit stricter with the AMs.
May be with a few more seats filled the atmosphere and standard would improve

I agree.
The First Minister and whips should be making sure that everyone is there, as they are at Westminster.
It doesn't say much for their view of the assembly that they can't be bothered.
I think the strength of the Plaid-Labour government is that it has such a majority that it doesn't have to have its ministers in every vote thus freeing them up to go about their duties. The lib-Lab pact or lab minority were so stretched you had ineffective ministers. I would rather the ministers be getting on with the job than sitting around in plenery simply for asthetic reasons
Che - its not for asthetics, FMQs is an important process and its once a week for a very short time. Their jon also includes accountability and how can they be questionned or take part if they are not there. I just do not belive that they always have to be away on business.UK ministers seem to be able to do it
"its once a week for a very short time."
It's not that bleeding short! Twice the length of PMQs
Are you sure the Plaid ministers aren't there? Remember they sit with their group, not at the Cabinet places in the front.
The gist of the original post is sensible though - it can look a bit empty on all sides at times.
Having said that, for most business they have proprtionately far more members in plenary than the Commons.
Daran
I bow to your superior knowledge Daran , but to the wider public like me, like my friends, it always looks so empty and so boring.
any reason you have chosen not to publish my comment mam?
i have che its just above wouldnt not publish you
I sent a second one, maybe it didnt get through. The crux of the point i made was that in response to your view that they need to be there to be scrutinised, during FMQ's only RM is questioned. I am sure that Plaid Ministers are present for their own questioning so I cant see the validity of the point that for the sake of accountability they need to be there for RM's questions
